  • Overview

    The Staff Accountant will be a vital contributor to the accounting team that supports two wholly owned subsidiaries. The position requires thorough knowledge of all transactional accounting activities to include; accounts payable, labor, payroll, general ledger account reconciliations, cash receipts and intercompany. This position reports directly to the Controller and requires a high level of accuracy.


    • Principal responsibility to administer and oversee full-cycle automated payrolls
    • Administers with accuracy the full-cycle accounts payable process
    • Primary responsibilities include daily entry of cash activity and preparing monthly recurring, reversing and adjusting journal entries for month-end close
    • Accurately completes General Ledger account reconciliations on a monthly and quarterly basis
    • Works closely with Human Resources to ensure complete accuracy of data to support the semi-monthly payrolls
    • Works closely with Controller to ensure that all system interfaces are processed daily
    • Assist with internal and external audits as required
    • Perform other related duties as assigned and assist in special projects as needed


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with 3-5 years progressive experience working in a government contract accounting environment.
    • Working knowledge in generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), ability to identify unallowable and allocation cost accounting in accordance with FAR/DCAA rules and guidelines is a plus
    • Experience in maintaining, processing electronic expense reporting, and timekeeping systems
    • Must demonstrate high level of attention to details, accuracy, and timelines; 
    • Able to work successfully on multiple projects simultaneously and achieve quality results at all times
    • Demonstrate the ability to provide professional customer service when interacting with all levels of staff, vendors and customers
    • Must be a self-starter able to work independently and meet deadlines as required
    • Proficient in Excel, and Automated Payroll system applications
    • Experience with complex accounting and reporting systems; proficiency with Deltek Costpoint and Time and Expense is preferred
    • U.S. Citizenship is required
