  • Overview

    BRMi seeks a Lab Technician, a member of the Technology Roadmap and Planning Team (TRP), to support proof-of-concept projects by collecting, managing, and analyzing data in the TRP lab environment while also, managing the lab environment itself.


    • Manage the Lab Environment
    • Manage the Linux Environment, Hadoop Administration, and New Technology installation and support.
    • Independently install, maintain, upgrade and remove software packages being tested in the Linux lab environment.
    • Independently pgrade and maintain Cloudera Data Hub (CDH).
    • Independently ingest, maintain, and delete test data sets in the CDH.
    • Perform light data analysis tasks under the guidance of technology strategists.


    • 2 to 7 years of Operating Systems Experience with Unix
    • 2 to 7 years of Programming Languages Experience with Java Script
    • 2 to 7 years of Scripting & Shell Languages Experience with Unix Shell Scripting
    • Competent in Unix system administration, shell scripting, SQL and either Scala, Python, R, or Java. Javascript a plus.
    • Experienced Hadoop user, capable of basic administration of Cloudera CDH.
    • Familiar with concepts of database administration.
    • Self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity and a constant stream of one-off activities.
    • Curiosity, energy, maturity & communications skills.


    • Data analysis, with basic knowledge of statistics.
    • Experience with SPSS, SAS, Tableau, and/or D3.js or similar.
    • Familiarity with banking or other financial industries.
    • Familiarity with cloud and container technologies.
