Overview

The Event Manager leads the development, planning, and execution of strategic enterprise-wide employee events, ranging from curated group events to large-scale experiences for 50 to more than 8,000 attendees. This role supports employee engagement and organizational culture by delivering high-quality events that foster connection and a sense of belonging.

 

The position applies advanced event management expertise to moderately complex initiatives across multiple locations or the enterprise, managing events from initial concept through execution and evaluation with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide input on and influence the strategic direction of moderately complex enterprise events.
  • Develop event plans, tactics, and goals using data-driven and qualitative insights.
  • Conduct research and analysis and provide recommendations to improve event strategies and experiences.
  • Manage the full event lifecycle from concept through execution and evaluation.
  • Plan and execute complex events, tournaments, group outings, discounted ticket programs, virtual events, and other employee experiences.
  • Manage event timelines, budgets, design, logistics, communications, and operational requirements.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with team members, leadership, stakeholders, vendors, and other partners.
  • Manage vendor sourcing and contracting activities, including preparing requests for proposals, analyzing bids, negotiating agreements, and coordinating venue site visits.
  • Provide on-site event management and operational leadership to ensure successful execution and positive attendee experiences.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues before and during events.
  • Research and implement opportunities to automate and streamline processes, reduce expenses, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Collect and analyze event data to evaluate performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Present event findings, conclusions, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Develop new event offerings based on employee and organizational needs.
  • Benchmark event programs and results against industry practices and emerging trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in event management, hospitality, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant event management experience, including event planning, logistics, and coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead events and projects from concept through execution and evaluation.
  • Advanced project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Significant experience reviewing and negotiating vendor and event contracts.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research, analytical, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt and maintain effectiveness in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Strong initiative, flexibility, professionalism, and ability to remain composed under pressure.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate event and stakeholder needs.
  • Strong customer service and stakeholder relationship-management skills.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Cvent or a comparable event management platform preferred.
  • Knowledge of data-driven decision-making and post-event analysis preferred.
  • Knowledge of event management industry practices and emerging trends preferred.
